Not all matte lipsticks are created equal. But, you better believe that Pat McGrath’s tubes are the beauty world's Ferraris of lippies. That’s why we’re stoked that today, the legendary makeup artist debuted 10 new shades of her beloved MatteTrance formula.
McGrath’s namesake makeup collection, launched less than two years ago, was recently given a $1 billion valuation (essentially just over R13,3 billion), according to WWD (Kylie Cosmetics, by comparison, is valued at $800 million). It comes as no surprise—each of her products, from their performance to their now-iconic sequin packaging, are like little works of art.
The MatteTrance lipstick (R506.60), in particular, achieves the elusive balance of having impressive pigment and a flattering flat finish without sucking your lips of moisture. They’re creamy and long lasting, and with a new total of 30 shades will undoubtedly become collectibles for many a makeup junkie.
Some of the new shades, all universally flattering berries, neutrals, and reds, are named after recognizable figures. See: Christy (as in, Turlington), a beige nude and Elson (as in, Karen), an orange-red. We’ll take one of each, please!
