Not that he needed an award, but why not recognise Trevor Noah’s brilliance with one, right?
It’s no secret that here at ELLE HQ we love Trevor - yes, we’re keeping it on first name basis because, well, we talked life, laughter and love for our ELLE MAN exclusive in December.
But forget that, because there is an even bigger story to share: The Daily Show host’s tome, Born A Crime, is worthy of a prize: The Thurber Prize for American Humor.
The man who credits his mother for his sense of humour – ‘It all comes from her,’ he told us last year – joins a prestigious group of previous winners, including Jon Stewart, his predecessor.
Clearly, Trevor’s brand of humour is the type that just keeps on giving (or winning), because it was only last month that he won his first Emmy (for Best Short Form Variety Series for his YouTube special, The Daily Show: Between the Scenes).
Named after celebrated writer, James Thurber, Trevor’s win comes with US$5 000 and a crystal plaque.
That’s taking funny to a whole new level of cool.
